MARIETTA, Okla. (KTEN) — Marietta Public Schools is changing the way they protect their students. Now, superintendents and state officials are watching closely, to see if this technology can light the way to a safer classroom.
School administrators and a company called Go To Green demonstrated how a network of automated sensors triggers immediate data when a threat enters a building.
Flashing green lights installed throughout the campus guide students and staffers to safety.
Chad Hance, superintendent at Cache Public Schools in Oklahoma, was an interested observer.
“We’re always looking to do things in security and keep our kids safe,” he said. “It’s crazy times that we even have to go to this because of a threat.”
Marietta officials showcased the evolution of the technology by upgrading the district’s response to severe weather and fires, leaving visiting officials to agree that this level of protection is valuable at any price.
“If we can save one child from getting hurt in the State of Oklahoma and we don’t need to worry about what happened in Pauls Valley, it’s worth every penny,” Hance said.
